Chandigarh planned and unplanned city

Chandigarh is one of the few planned cities of the twentieth century that combines monumental architecture, cultural growth and modernization. It is located in northern India at the foot of the Shivalika Mountains. It is the capital of the two union states of Haryana and Punjab, on whose borders it lies, and a union territory of the Republic of India administered by the central government in New Delhi. The concept for the new capital was conceived by the then Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who in 1949 commissioned the American architect Albert Mayer to design India's modern city. His concept of a garden city was reworked by the Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. Néhru's wish was to create a "city of tomorrow" that would provide a quality of life for its inhabitants. The present Chandigarh is a city of dilemmas in planned and unplanned aspects and conflicts. This paper addresses the questions: how does one live in Chandigarh, which was planned as an ideal CIAM city with the basic principles of urban planning as put forward by the Athens Charter? Has the urban plan enabled its inhabitants to live a "dream life, " as envisioned by the architect, or are the city's inhabitants trying to resume their accustomed lifestyle despite the plan? Has life in the city changed since the Chandigarh Capitol complex was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016?
Person-centered Care in Residential Care Facility for the Elderly

The aim of this thesis is to identify and to describe barriers to the implementation of person-centered care in specific residential care facility for the elderly. For this purpose, the author firstly conceptualizes the concept of person-centered care. Consequently, she develops the Framework for conducting research. The theoretical portion consists of five chapters. The first chapter focuses on the person- centered care concept introduction, then it describes the relationship between concepts 'individualization of care' and 'person-centered care'. In the conclusion of the first chapter, the Schema of the concept is introduced. The Schema visualizes the structure for chapters two to five. In those chapters, a description of the systems defined in the Schema is provided. Those are: Care Recipients, Direct Care Actors, and Service Providers. The end of the first part brings the topic of a suitable organizational culture. The empirical portion firstly offers the summary of the theoretical background - so follows the Framework for the consequent analysis and data interpretation - then introduces relevant aspects within researched organization, particularly within organization currently implemented a psychobiographical model of care that is the approach to person-centered care. The thesis describes the history and present of the city Dolni Kounice, and deals with the historical development of the quarry in this city. It also presents mining activities in South Moravia, and in the Czech Republic as in the country. The aim of this thesis is to determine the perception of the quarry in Dolni Kounice by residents and tourists. It focuses on the analysis of the landscape of Dolni Kounice due to quarrying, and its impact on local residents and visitors. The object of the study investigation is population in the range 18-65 years or more, and this group is further divided into groups of visitors and permanent residents. The analysis results of a questionnaire survey are summarized in the discussion and thesis conclusion.
The Importance of Small Schools with Mixed-age Classrooms for Villages and their Inhabitants

The diploma thesis deals with the importance of small schools for municipalities and their inhabitants. It focuses on the views and memories of individual residents who attended a small school in their village. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into two main chapters, the first one deals with mixed-grade education and the other with a teacher in the classroom with mixed grades. The first chapter defines the concept of a small school, it also takes into account the history and distinguishes between the types of small-class schools. This chapter also discusses small-scale schools in the countryside, it examines the climate and environment in the small schools, and their advantages and disadvantages. Last but not least, it sees the small school as an alternative school, and also takes into account alternative schools with mixed grades structure abroad. The second chapter focuses on the teacher in the small school, his attitudes, values, personality, authority, as well as his professional knowledge and skills. The research part of the thesis was realized by semi-structured interviews. Qualitative research has shown that even though former pupils often remember at school in a good way, they do not always trust that system of teaching so much that they entrust their children to school unconditionally. The biggest surprise of the thesis was the finding that the memories of a particular small school are largely influenced by the memories of a particular teacher, his personality, behavior and manners, not the school itself. On the other hand, most of the respondents have had bad memories about their transition, it was stressful for most of them, they have been badly integrated into a new collective and a new environment, some of them have also encountered bullying. These facts discourage some people from putting their children in a small school.
